The death toll has risen to 24 following the collapse of a carriageway on a motorway in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. Chinese media had previously reported 19 deaths. The state news agency Xinhua reported that around 30 people were still being treated in hospital. According to Xinhua, 20 vehicles crashed in the accident early on Wednesday morning.
