Two weeks ago, shocking news emerged that Gideo Sa’ar could replace Yoav Gallant as defence minister and return to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s unity government. Sa’ar was once heralded as a new force in Israel right-wing politics and one of the biggest threats to Netanyahu’s decades-long grip on power. The formation of his right-wing New Hope party, however, failed to live up to expectations. While not appointed defence minister, on Monday Sa’ar was named a new minister without portfolio and a member of the war cabinet with promises of a more prominent role in government in the future….
