Bulgaria and Romania received the go-ahead to join Europe’s free-travel Schengen area starting in March 2024, the outgoing Spanish Council Presidency said in a post on X. Checks on persons at internal air and sea borders are to be lifted from the end of March 2024, according to the post on Saturday.
