Several rare original late 18th century letters from the great German writer and poet Friedrich Schiller have been acquired by the Goethe and Schiller Archive in the eastern German city of Weimar. The correspondence is between Schiller – a titan of German literature who wrote poetry, plays and works of history and philosophy – and his friend Christian Gottfried Körner, a fellow writer and lawyer. The letters date between July 1787 and August 1797 and are viewed by scholars as among the most important literary correspondence of the period.
