POLICE have appealed for witnesses and information following an attempt to torch a pub. The incident happened overnight at The Wellington Arms pub in Baughurst. Hampshire Constabulary said in a statement: “Officers were called at 7:26am on Saturday, August 31, to a report that an attempt had been made to set the pub alight. “This occurred between 2am and 4am but was only discovered later when the first employee turned up for work.” Hampshire and IIsle of Wight Fire Service attended the scene and extinguished a small smouldering fire that was located.
