Turkey looks set to again invite Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to address the Turkish parliament. The country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, earlier this week complained that Abbas had not replied to an earlier invitation. Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus was on July 31 cited as saying by state-run news service Anadolu Agency that ‘if there are no issues, we will invite Mr Abbas to the Turkish Parliament General Assembly and he will explain the Palestinian cause in front of lawmakers’.
