Heavy rains and subsequent flooding in June caused an estimated €4.1 billion ($4.6 billion) in damage across southern Germany, according to figures from two of the hardest-hit states and insurance companies. “Almost €1.8 billion of the uninsured damage fall to Bavaria,” the state’s finance minister, Albert Füracker told dpa in Munich. Insurers estimate around €2 billion of the total damage was covered, while €300 million in losses were reported in Baden-Württemberg.
