Redmi is reportedly working on the Redmi K80 series of smartphones for the Chinese market in November. The lineup is expected to include at least three phones, such as the Redmi K80e, Redmi K80, and Redmi K80 Pro. The new leak, courtesy of Digital Chat Station, focuses on the fingerprint scanning technology that will be available in the Redmi K80 series.

In the above screenshot, the DCS user did not specify the name of the phone he is talking about. He claims that ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensors are still mostly exclusive to high-end flagship models. As for the sub-brands, the ultrasonic fingerprint sensors will only be installed in the top-end versions with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. The budget variant will only have optical in-screen fingerprint sensors with a smaller focus range, which will lead to a noticeably different user experience.

Previous reports suggested that the entire Xiaomi 15 series, which includes the Xiaomi 15, 15 Pro, and 15 Ultra, will be equipped with an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. As a reminder, last year’s Xiaomi 14 series had optical in-screen fingerprint sensors.

Judging by the aforementioned leak, Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand will offer an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the Redmi K80 Pro. On the other hand, the Redmi K80 might be equipped with an optical in-screen fingerprint reader.

As for other specifications, the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipsets, respectively. The OLED panels of both phones may support 1.5K and 2K resolutions, respectively. A recent report suggests that both phones may come with a 6,000 mAh battery. It is likely that the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro could be rebranded as Poco F7 and F7 Pro in the global market next year.
