Huawei announced the launch of two new tablets in China – the MatePad Pro and MatePad Air – on August 6. Although details are still scarce, the company shared the design of the new devices on Weibo and announced a major update to its GoPaint drawing app.

Huawei’s post on Weibo included an image of the MatePad Pro, which shows a stylish tablet with a wide display and minimal bezels. The tablet will come with a stylus and keyboard, which are expected to use NearLink technology for smooth wireless connectivity.

According to Huawei Central, the MatePad Pro may have a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED screen. It is also rumored to be available in three colors: Inkstone Black, Xuan White, and Gold.

Huawei has also shared a teaser of the MatePad Air in all four colors: White White, Green Green, Sakura Pink, and Rose Gold. Its design seems to be quite different from the previous generation, with a horizontal lens arrangement similar to the Nova 12 Ultra on the back.

The MatePad Air is rumored to have an 11.95-inch display and support 66W fast charging, although other specifications are still unknown.

Along with the tablets, Huawei announced the stable release of the GoPaint app, which is currently in beta testing on select Huawei tablets.

In other Huawei news, the company will launch its Nova Flip budget smartphone in China on August 5, just one day before the tablets. It is unclear why Huawei decided to release these products on consecutive days, but that is the plan.

The Huawei Nova Flip will reportedly have a 6.94-inch LTPO OLED main display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz, making it the largest foldable screen on a phone with a “book” form factor.

This is complemented by a 2.14-inch external OLED screen for quick access to notifications and various functions. The device will be powered by the Kirin 9 G-free chipset, with ample RAM and generous storage options. For photography, it will include a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. In addition, Nova Flip will be equipped with a 4400 mAh battery and support 66W fast charging.
