Newcastle United’s miserable run of form continued on New Year’s Day. Despite scoring twice at Liverpool, Newcastle were well beaten at Anfield and the 4-2 scoreline perhaps flatters Eddie Howe’s side. Indeed, as per the Premier League’s official website, the hosts had 15 shots on target and 34 overall. In comparison, Howe’s side mustered only 3 out of 5 respectively.
