At least 13 people were killed by a magnitude-7.6 earthquake that struck Japan on Monday, officials said on Tuesday. The deaths included seven victims at Wajima Municipal Hospital, Japanese news agency Kyodo reported, citing city officials. In the city of Wajima, in the hard-hit Ishikawa Prefecture, more than 100 buildings had been burned down in one neighbourhood, Japanese television station NHK reported.
