Spain sailed their way to their first gold at the Paris Olympics on Friday as Diego Botin le Chever and Florian Trittel Paul won the men’s skiff. The pair both missed medals in different events in Tokyo three years ago. They beat the New Zealanders and the Americans in warm and smooth conditions off Marseille. The Netherlands earlier won the women’s skiff gold thanks to Odile van Aanholt and Annette Duetz. Including three golds in rowing, it was a fourth on the water for the Dutch.
