At least 25 people died when a fire erupted at an Istanbul nightclub undergoing renovations, Turkish state news agency Anadolu reports, citing local authorities. The number of injured at the 16-storey building in the Beşiktaş district, on the city’s European side, was not initially given. Anadolu reported the Istanbul’s governor’s office said the fire broke out around midday Tuesday on the building’s lower floors, where the nightclub is located.
