Heavy rains and flooding across parts of southern Germany were continuing to cause widespread disruption on Sunday, and claimed the life of an emergency rescue worker overnight. The firefighter was in a rubber dinghy with three other rescuers late on Saturday night when the vessel capsized in the Bavarian town of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, which lies some 40 kilometres north of Munich.
