LAKELAND, Fla. – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a plane crashed in Polk County on Tuesday morning, killing one person. The plane crashed in Mulberry near the South Lakeland Airport, which is located at 4868 Southwind Drive. The only victim, was the pilot, 76-year old Arthur Canning of Lakeland, according to investigators.
