A final decision has been reached on proposals to introduce parking charges, bringing a controversial saga to an end. Babergh District Council’s cabinet met this afternoon to discuss proposals to scrap free three-hour parking in Sudbury, Hadleigh and Lavenham to address the authority’s £6.7 million budget gap over the next four years. In April the decision to scrap the free parking was ‘called in’, with the overview and scrutiny committee concluding it should be reviewed on several grounds, including further consideration of retaining at least one hour of free parking.
