Two people were severely injured after a car veered off the road in the south-western German city of Stuttgart and plunged onto a railway track several metres below. The car’s automatic emergency call system then alerted rescue teams, the fire brigade said on Saturday. For reasons that are still unclear, the car had fallen from the road into the exterior of a city rail tunnel. A fire brigade spokesman spoke of a fall of around 7 metres.
