Japan’s western Noto Peninsula has been hit by a large earthquake, six months after hundreds were killed in a larger quake in the region. Local media said at least five houses in the coastal town of Wajima collapsed on Monday due to the quake, which was recorded at a magnitude of 6.0. The peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture was devastated by a magnitude 7.6 earthquake on New Year’s Day, with 260 casualties. More than 3,000 people are still living in emergency shelters in the region.
