Electricity generated from renewable sources including wind, water and biomass accounted for more than half of Germany’s electricity supplies, rising to 56% in 2023, the Federal Network Agency said on Tuesday. A year earlier, the figure stood at 47.4%. An increase in rainfall was given as one reason for the rise, benefiting hydro-electric power plants following droughts seen in 2022.
