German Unity Day is to be marked on Thursday with a ceremony in the northern city of Schwerin but also a countrywide demonstration by the “Never Again War” alliance. Different German cities host the official celebration each year, which remembers the date Germany reunified in 1990 after the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is also a public holiday.
