A seven-year-old girl died when the small boat carrying her along with other members of her family capsized in freezing waters off the coast of northern France early on Sunday. The boat was carrying 16 migrants, who set off from a canal near Calais, the La Voix du Nord newspaper reported on the basis of information from the police prefecture. According to the report, the girl, her parents and three siblings were attempting along with others to cross the English Channel.
