Taiwan’s coastguard urged the Chinese authorities to release a Taiwanese fishing boat and its crew after the vessel was seized near the Taiwan-held island of Kinmen on Tuesday evening, with China accusing the boat of violating a fishing ban. The coastguard late Tuesday called on Chinese authorities to “immediately release” the Tachinman 88 fishing boat and its crew and “cease political manipulations that could harm cross-Strait relations” between Taipei and Beijing.
