A “cherished bakery” is under threat from the potential arrival of Greggs, a petition has warned. The petition on change.org, started by Karl Chappell, claims Wellbread Bakers in Swaffham is at risk of being “crushed” if plans for the bakery giant are approved. Greggs is seeking permission from Breckland Council to move into the former QD Furniture Store on the town’s Market Place. The budget retailer closed last December after just over two years in the town, and the unit has been vacant since. But Mr Chappell’s petition has warned that filling it with Greggs could “crush” Wellbread’s future….
