Current rules dictate that drivers are not eligible for a superlicence until they turn 18. Antonelli has the required points to qualify for the licence, which allows a driver to take part in F1 races, but is still only 17 years old. The Mercedes junior turns 18 in August and has been touted as a star of the future. He has already been testing F1 cars ahead of an anticipated debut in the sport next season.
