The future of a popular urban beach attraction is uncertain – as a council awaits approval over grant funding. Newark Town Council has organised Newark on Sea, a seaside-style facility outside the town hall in the Market Place, for the past two years. The beach has been funded by cash from central government as part of the Newark Cultural Heart Towns Fund project, however, it has come to an end.
