Yesterday, Honor confirmed that it will announce the Honor Magic V Flip on June 13 in China. While the company confirmed its configuration, there is no clarity on its chipset. Xiaomi is reportedly developing its first foldable flip phone, the Xiaomi Mix Flip, in parallel. Tipster Digital Chat Station revealed how these phones will be targeted at the Chinese market in a recent post on Weibo.

What to expect from Honor Magic V Flip, Xiaomi Mix Flip

The above Weibo post suggests that Vivo and Oppo, referred to as “blue” and “green,” have stopped updating their small folding phones. This means that both brands may not be planning to release flip folding phones this year. Both brands released the Vivo X Flip and Oppo Find N3 Flip last year. However, their successors are unlikely to hit the market in 2024.

At the same time, brands such as Honor and Xiaomi are stepping up with new offerings such as the Honor Magic V Flip and Xiaomi Mix Flip. DCS notes that these devices have a design with holes for large external displays, but their positioning is different.

The Honor Magic V Flip is targeted at women, and its highest configuration offers 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, focusing on sufficient rather than top-of-the-line performance. The brand has already confirmed that it will be available in two other variants, such as 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB. It will reportedly have a 4800 mAh battery, 66W fast charging, and a 50-megapixel primary camera. It will be available in black, white, and pink colors.

Xiaomi, on the other hand, is positioning its upcoming model as a true flagship. According to reports, it will have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a 50+60 megapixel dual camera (2x telephoto) on the back, a 32-megapixel front camera, and 67W fast charging.
