At least 170 people were killed in a series of attacks in northern Burkina Faso last weekend, according to Attorney General Aly Benjamin Coulibaly. A team from the public prosecutor’s office visited the affected villages where they witnessed the aftermath of a string of massive attacks in the Yatenga province last Sunday, Coulibaly said in a statement on Saturday evening. The authorities had initially not published a death toll. On the same weekend, 29 worshippers died in separate attacks on a church and a mosque.
