The death toll in US overnight airstrikes in Syria has risen to 29 members of the Iran-backed militias, a war monitor reported on Saturday as fears mount of a further escalation in the Middle East. The toll, given by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, brings to 45 the total of fatalities reported so far in the strikes in Syria and neighbouring Iraq.
