Albania is strengthening its regional security in response to the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine, with the government of the NATO country opening a modernized air base in the south-eastern town of Kuçovë on Monday. The military base located some 50 kilometres south of the capital Tirana has been expanded into a tactical NATO base to ensure greater security in the region in the face of the “neo-imperialist threat from Russia,” said Prime Minister Edi Rama.
