Haiti’s government has declared a 72-hour state of emergency and a nighttime curfew in the capital and surrounding areas over a mass prison escape, according to BBC. The state of emergency in the country was declared after armed gangs stormed a major capital prison in Port-au-Prince, killing at least 12 people and releasing around 4000 inmates. The leaders of the groups are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who is currently outside the country.
