America sprinter Noah Lyles lived up to the hype when it mattered but needed a photo finish before being confirmed as the fastest man in the world with Olympic 100 metres gold on Sunday. World champion Lyles stirred up the crowd when he entered the Stade de France and then came from behind to pip Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson by five-thousandths, with both clocking 9.79 seconds.
