American sprinter Noah Lyles is officially the world’s fastest man. He managed to pull off a win in razor-thin fashion, after he started out slow in the blocks in Sunday’s 100-meter dash final. In bringing home the gold medal, Lyles became the first American to win the event in 20 years. Lyles finished with a time of 9.79 seconds, barely edging out Kishane Thompson of Jamaica. Once he won, Lyles had to go into the stands to hug his mother, who was there for the special occasion.
