Frankfurt’s red-sandstone cathedral, a main attraction of the west German city’s historic centre, had around 500 litres of water pumped out of its vaulted ceiling on Sunday, the fire brigade said. The water was removed using specialized equipment and in consultation with a structural engineer due to fears about the ceiling’s stability.
