LANSING, Mich. — Michigan’s redistricting commission voted 8-1 on Thursday to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court a lower court order requiring a redraw of Detroit-based state House and Senate seats. Two members abstained from the vote and two were absent. The Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission also will file a motion asking a three-judge panel to halt its order that legislative district boundaries be redrawn while their efforts to appeal to the nation’s highest court are pending.
