Worried residents have flocked to sign a petition after concerns were raised that a recently retired lollipop lady may not be replaced. The petition was started by county councillor Rob Colwell, who claims that Norfolk County Council wants to “save some cash” and not fund a replacement for 76-year-old Carol Smith, who retired from her position as lollipop lady in Dersingham last week. There are now fears that the county council is cancelling the Dersingham school crossing patrol, which Cllr Colwell says the authority also tried to do in 2016.
