Jill Goldsmith, a trustee of the Gardens of Easton Lodge, looks ahead to Apples and Bees Day at the attraction at Little Easton, near Great Dunmow, on Sunday September 15 As sunny September takes over from a hot August, the gardens are looking lovely and the apples and pears are ripening on the trees in the walled kitchen garden. More butterflies are flitting around and bees, too, with lots of pollen for them on the lavender and dahlias, and the windfall apples are attracting red admirals.
