The lawyers of former German Football Federation (DFB) officials Wolfgang Niersbach and Horst R Schmidt have requested that their trial over charges of tax evasion be discontinued. Niersbach, Schmidt and Theo Zwanziger are accused of tax evasion or aiding and abetting evasion of corporate tax, solidarity surcharges, trading tax and sales tax for the year 2006.
