Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday that the Russian armed forces have had their ranks bolstered by 190,000 new volunteer recruits so far this year. Medvedev, who now serves as deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, said that there was no shortage of military personnel and that the Kremlin’s enlistment goal was being fulfilled. “The average daily recruitment rate remains stable and amounts to around 1,000 people,” Medvedev was quoted as saying by the state news agency TASS while at a Defence Ministry meeting.
