An hours-long stand-off at a hospital in the western German city of Aachen came to an end late Monday with police overpowering a woman who had threatened staff and barricaded herself inside a room. The 65-year-old was seriously injured by police gunfire during the raid by a special tactical unit. “As the woman did not respond when spoken to, the police officers used their firearms to put an end to the dangerous situation,” a police statement said.
