Last year, Xiaomi introduced HyperOS as its new operating system. It replaced MIUI as the default OS in Xiaomi’s newer phones, Redmi and POCO. Older phones have also been gradually updated to HyperOS. Now there are rumors that Xiaomi is working on HyperOS 2.0. It is reported that the new version will have a feature that will help detect hidden cameras.
Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 hidden camera feature
- According to XiaomiTime, Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 update will be able to detect hidden cameras. This will be done by searching the wireless local area network (WLAN).
- The report has a screenshot of this feature called “Camera Scan”. The description reads: “Detect hidden cameras to protect your privacy and personal safety.” You need to click on it to start scanning the area for any possible hidden cameras.
- Once the scan is complete, you will see the results on the screen: whether cameras were found or not.
This will be a very useful feature for security and privacy, with easy access from the phone. There is no official information yet, but it looks like Xiaomi is indeed testing this feature for the HyperOS 2.0 update. It is expected that once the update is released, it will be available in several Xiaomi phones.
In addition to the hidden camera detection feature, Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 is also expected to feature an iOS-like recent apps bar that will allow you to flip through different apps. It is also expected to increase the amount of RAM to 16 GB from a minimum of 6 GB.
Xiaomi is expected to release HyperOS 2.0 in October, at the same time as the first version. It will be released with the new version of Android 15, which should be announced by September. As for the phones that will not be updated to Android 15, they will still receive HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 14.
