TEACHING STUDENTS TO SUCCEED Dear Heloise: I’ve been retired from teaching for about three years now, and I can tell you that classrooms need to change. Teachers need more authority, more money, and more cooperation from parents and the school district’s administration. We need to start failing students who don’t make the grade and have them repeat the year or attend summer school to make up for their bad grades.
