Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has won the states of New York, Rhode Island and Delaware, US networks projected. Broadcasters CNN, NBC and CBS called the results, which were expected in the deeply blue states. Hours after polls first started closing, there have been no surprises for either candidate as they seek the 270 electoral votes needed to secure the presidency. None of the seven battleground states – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – have had a winner declared by US media.
