Germany’s Federal Environment Agency (UBA) has refused to issue climate certificates to German corporations due to alleged cases of fraudulent emissions reduction projects in China. The agency said on Friday it had concerns about eight so-called Upstream Emission Reductions projects in China in which “irregularities” had been proven, with over a dozen more also facing scrutiny.
