More than 80,000 small cetaceans or aquatic mammals were killed last year, a new report by international wildlife NGOs Pro Wildlife and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) reveals. The report, which gives a global overview of directed hunts on small whales, dolphins and porpoises, notes that the actual numbers are estimated to be much higher.
