Part of a main road is closed in both directions due to a large sinkhole. The A226 London Road, in Swanscombe, is shut between its junctions with Craylands Lane and the High Street this morning (September 6). Kent County Council’s highways team said the closure is due to a “large void in the carriageway” and told motorists to expect delays in the area. Those nearby have reported seeing Thames Water engineers on site.
