SoftServe has announced a partnership with Prefixa, an American developer of XR technologies and an expert in spatial computing in the aerospace industry. The two companies will work together on digital twin technology, in particular, to create solutions to improve operational efficiency and safety in the space and mining industries.
The partnership will combine SoftServe’s expertise in immersive interfaces, AI/ML and data analytics, robotics and autonomous systems with Prefixa’s experience in 3D modeling, simulation and AR/VR.
“The next generation of space missions is closer than we think. Through our strategic partnership with Prefixa, our joint offerings and integrated approach will help customers better visualize, interact with, and manage their space and mining operations with less risk and greater productivity, increasing the potential for significant cost and time savings in the future,” said Lubomir Demkiv, Head of Robotics at SoftServe.
Areas of cooperation
SoftServe and Prefixa have identified several areas where their joint work can be applied:
- Space mission planning and preparation. High-fidelity virtual simulations can improve space mission planning by 30%, reducing the number of unforeseen problems. And advanced AR/VR interfaces can increase the effectiveness of astronaut training and speed up the time to prepare for space missions by 25%.
- Exploring the challenging conditions in space. Digital twin technology allows for more autonomous operations in harsh environments, which reduces the need for human intervention, minimizes risks and additional costs, and increases operational efficiency by 35%.
- Risk measurement in the mining industry. Optimizing the extraction, utilization, and management of resources on the Moon and Mars could increase the mining rate by 40% by measuring unplanned deviations and providing practical recommendations, contributing to more sustainable space exploration and development. Digital twins can also reduce operational risks and equipment failures in the mining industry by up to 20%, improving worker safety.
Pushing the boundaries of technology
“The synergy of the combined resources and technological expertise of Prefixa and SoftServe will push the boundaries of space and mining technology and accelerate innovation,” said Miguel Arias, CEO of Prefixa.
According to him, thanks to advanced modeling, testing, and verification capabilities of the final product, digital twin technology can revolutionize space and robotics systems.
SoftServe and Prefixa jointly participated in the 2024 ASCEND conference in Las Vegas last week. At the event, the partners demonstrated simulations of scenarios for building infrastructure on the Moon, as well as Prefixa’s new Extended Reality Software platform, created using XR and NVIDIA Omniverse for high-fidelity 3D modeling in space mission planning, training, and optimization.
