Age UK is urging pensioners to apply for Pension Credit before the an important deadline to ensure they receive this year’s Winter Fuel Payment. The charity is reminding people that successful claims can be backdated by up to three months, providing a crucial lifeline for older people struggling with rising energy costs. Once universal, the allowance is now means-tested which means only older households on low incomes will qualify going forward.
