South Carolina State University was put on lockdown Tuesday morning following reports of shots fired. The lockdown began around 11:30 a.m., Charleston NBC affiliate WCBD reported. An emergency alert system at neighboring Claflin University said gunshots had been fired on the Orangeburg, S.C. campus, according to Charleston Fox affiliate WACH.
