Hamas has announced that it has appointed the mastermind of the 7 October attacks Yahya Sinwar as the group’s political bureau chief following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on 31 July. Sinwar appointment has been congratulated by a number of Hamas allies, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houthis.
