The Taliban on Friday said it has freed the convicts deported from Germany to Afghanistan last week. Suhail Shahin, head of the Taliban’s office in the Qatari capital Doha, told dpa that the convicts were “released after their families gave written assurances that they would not commit any criminal offences.” Germany does not maintain official diplomatic relations with the Taliban, which is accused of widespread human rights abuses, especially against women and girls.
